5 minutes away from The Big and Juicy Grape is Quarryhill Botanical Gardens. It is actually about 4 miles away so it is literally within walking distance. Because there isn’t much of a shoulder on some areas of highway 12, and in spite the fact that we see people walking, jogging and bicycling it on a regular basis; we highly recommend exercising caution.
The gardens are open to the public year round. For self guided tours of the gardens, they do not need reservation, but they do offer guided tours which are 1.5 hr long and docent led. For the guided tours they ask to be contacted to reserve your spot.
Quarryhill gets its name from being a prime example of what the work of conservators, the altruistic and philanthropic sense of its founder and the continuous efforts of a community membership and volunteers can achieve with the remains of an abandoned road base quarry.
Come see a world-renowned botanical institution, providing other botanical gardens, arboreta, researchers, conservationists, students, and the visiting public with living examples of the beautiful and threatened temperate flora of East Asia.
Come spend more than a few days in this beautiful Valley of the Moon, don’t spend a small fortune in lodging, instead, get a private and memorably comfortable stay affordably at The Big and Juicy Grape.
